Who are YOU!!!

I was doing my devotions this afternoon in Philippians 4 about unity. Whoa do we ever have a problem with this area...in our homes, in our churches, in our social circles. I think this is a perfect time to remember this admonition from Paul to agree with one another. Now I know that can't possibly mean to always agree in the term we know agree...but it talks later about having the mind of Christ. If we check all our arguments or issues by searching our hearts to see if WE are having the mind of Christ...I don't think there would be as many at least. As we get together with our families, extended families, the unlovelies in our churches...or just plain people we love but that when when we get stressed we just don't feel like liking...let's remember don't be a Euodia or Syntyche! Wouldn't that have been embarrassing to be called out by name by Paul..and ultimately by God for a feud????

Wow...I had to post a comment myself on this one so it wouldn't have a huge goose egg in the comment department.

Did I offend someone? Perhaps that all didn't come out right. I don't have issues with anyone right now (surprisingly as that is for me :P).

Happy Thanksgiving to all!

I hadn't commented yet because I’m not sure if I completely understand what you’re saying…plus I just can’t find the words to respond. I typed up several responses, but none of them made any sense when I got done. I’m not offended, but I really don’t have a response for ya either:)

You are so awesome, Beth. I can always trust you will tell me the truth.

Phil 4 is talking about unity. In v2 he calls out two ladies by name who obviously weren't getting along. He pleads with them to "agree with each other in the Lord." So I was first trying to comment on the fact that these women who were good women who were Pauls colaborers and two of only a few woman mentioned as workers of the faith in the Bible.

v5 tells us "let your gentleness be evident to all" I know I really struggle with this. I am ....well, let us just say a strong personality rather than a gentle one.

Then v6 says "Do not be anxious about anything but in everything by prayer and petition with THANKSGIVING present your reuest to God." So I was trying to (not so eloquently obviously :P) apply it to this time of year. We get so busy and anxious about making every thing perfect or according to tradition. Then was also applying the "lets get along" lesson from the beginning of the chapter because so many people have a hard time with this time of year.

I was afraid that maybe it came out all wrong. Hope that helps clarify what I was attempting to say :)

That does make sense...I think you're right too! I don't know that the time of year applies to me...I struggle all year! I need to post verse 6 everywhere! I have a hard time when things aren't just right and in place...even if it is something stupid like the dog dropping her food on the floor. I can't handle things being out of place. I get grumpy and ANXIOUS! So, if I set the table for Thanksgiving and someone moves a cup or a fork, I'll try to remember to not freak out :)
Thanks for the reminder!

No offense -- just hadn't read it yet!

I think it's eerily on the mark -- especially for my family right now. All my extended family, Paul's side & mine -- so much drama!
