I just love that show. Perhaps it is because I love teaching 5th grade. Here is a test that I got via email. I thought it was good. It took me a while to get the correct answer. The correct answer was the password to get into the excel file to add your name. It was pretty cool.
ARE YOU SMARTER THAN A 5TH GRADER?
There are 7 girls on a bus
Each girl has 7 backpacks
In each backpack, there are 7 big cats.
For every big cat there are 7 little cats.
Question: How many legs are there in the bus?

Hannah Quote of the Day
She woke up really groggy this morning. I wanted to tell her good news that she was going to have a sleep over at MawMaw's and Papa's.
I said, "Hannah, did you hear the news? You get to sleep over at MawMaw and Papa's house tonight."
Her face was sheer amazement and said, "That was on the news?!"
I laughed so very hard!!!!

My Poor Babies
Well, last night before dinner Hannah told us that her throat hurt when she swallowed. We ended up looking in all the kids' mouths. Yikes, they were all swollen and bright red. No one has run a fever or complained about anything.
I took them into the doctor today. They all three have strep throat and Emily also has an ear infection! Ouch....I can't imagine how uncomfortable it has been for her. They haven't even been whining!
So, here is a kid update while I am at it.
Hannah is now up to 36 pounds. She is now learning to read. She actually has done super well on her phonics. She is so sensitive. There are times when this will just send me through the roof, but then there are times when this makes me cry as I am so proud of her. I was having an emotional moment on my birthday. She was by far the first one to notice. She even followed me to the bathroom asking me if I was ok. Then when I began crying later, she held out her arms, told me she would take care of me and said, "come here". Too cute. I am stressing, however, about how time is flying. I don't want this to be the last semester before she is in school :(
Emily is now 30 pounds. She is about as dear as can be. She was just smiling as she was being examined in the office. The doctor was just shocked to discover how sick she was! She is wanting to read as well. She is doing a super job on learning letters and colors. She is my nurturer. She loves taking care of everyone especially her family and her dolls :)
Joseph is up to 27 pounds. He is the cutest sweetest little boy. In fact, he is growing up way too fast. He has been potty training for nine months already. He now will not even sit to pee :) He doesn't want to be a baby or maybe it is that he is not wanting to be a girl :P He is talking so much. He talks more than most 2.5 year olds. No quiet one in our house! He knows some of his colors and can recognize his name. He loves to snuggle. He has also become quite the Linus. He doesn't want to be without his blankie for any length of time.
So pray for us. My throat is getting sore too :(
UPDATE: I FORGOT TO TELL YOU ABOUT MY BLESSING. MY DOCTOR'S OFFICE WAS TELLING ME THAT SCHNUCK'S, ONE OF THE LOCAL GROCERY STORES, WAS FILLING GENERIC ANTIBIOTICS FOR FREE....YES, YOU HEARD THAT RIGHT, FREE! SO, I GOT THREE PRESCRIPTIONS OF ANTIBIOTICS FOR FREE....PRAISE GOD!

Death of the Super Bowl Dream
I am a cheesehead....I think I may have to go to a support group soon. I actually felt as if I was going to cry when the Packers lost is OT last night. I absolutely love football, I was born in WI therefore Packer football is a given, and I love Brett Favre even more. I so wanted him to end his career with a storybook trip to the Super Bowl capped off by a final two minute drive to win the game over the very annoying Patriots.
I am so sad! Here are the pictures of our last Packer Party for the 2007 season. It has been a super season; I always hate to see it end! I guess I will have to go back to sleeping the Sunday afternoons away.
We really had a good time at our party. The kids didn't watch the game much, but they loved getting to scream their faces off when we did :) It was excruciatingly tense at times, but fun in the end. Well, not for Allen. He can't take it. He had to leave the room for a while. Thankfully for me, he headed to the kitchen. He did all the dishes, cleaned the counters and even unloaded the dishwasher :) So, I guess one good thing came out of the game!
Now, all I can say is GO ELI!!!!!! I can't stand the Patriots

Three Little Kisses Saved My Life
Yesterday was quite a busy day. I dropped off the kids at my in-laws so I could go get new glasses and other errands. I ran back to get them and drove home. I had just enough time to feed them and get them in their jammies. Allen was running a little late from work. I had to leave really soon so I could go to music practice.
I kissed Allen, waved and ran out the door. As I was pulling out of the driveway I had a thought that I had not kissed my kids. At first I thought...well, I am running late and I waved so I will just go on to practice and kiss them when I get home.
Instantly the thought came into my mind "wonder if you never come back; don't you want them to have one last kiss"? So, I left the car running and ran in the front door to give everyone a kiss.
Almost to Waterloo, there was a deer on the shoulder just staring at me. I screamed at it not to hit me. It must have worked. Then a mile up the road traffic came to a dead stop. Unfortunately that might be more accurate than intended. There was a horrible accident. There weren't even ambulances there yet. It looked to be a head-on crash. I don't think the people in the white car survived. They weren't moving, and no one was tending to them.
I praised God for sparing me from that accident, prayed for those involved and thanked him for letting me run a bit behind.
Only today when I talked to my father-in-law did it make more sense. He said, "Good thing you came in to kiss your kids"! God had almost audibly warned me...to the point of even thinking about not making it home! I am so glad I listened this time.
Last night, kissing my kids one more time saved my life!!!!

Goals Update
Wanted to let you guys know that I have been working on my goals this past week.
1. I did my devotions every day. So I am actually ahead of schedule
2. I memorized this week's SS Bible verses
3. I did NOT go to Sunday evening service though. I am giving us one Sunday night off a month
4. I did NOT exercise at all, but we have been eating a LOT more fresh fruits and veggies. In fact, last night we had carrots and green peppers with dip, celery with pb and oranges for dinner. I later had a Smart One as that all didn't sit with me long, plus a piece of ice cream cake. Now that wasn't super, but it was better than having a huge dinner and then ice cream cake :)
5. I have gotten all my pictures printed from last year. Now I just have to carve out time to work on Joseph's book and my photo albums. On a roll at least.
How are you guys doing on your goals?

Getting Too Big!
After we got home we decided it was time to convert Joseph's bed into a big boy bed! I can't believe I don't have any kids in a crib anymore :( Sad really!
The girls asked if they could sleep with him in his cool new bed. I didn't mind. They did pretty well. Here they are reading before bed. I love that they love to read!
This is what it looked like when I checked on them. They look like a litter of puppies :)Catching Up Still
We were able to get together with some college friends while we were home. It was so much fun....well, for us it was...the kids' decimated the Mulder's house and then we gave the stomach flu to them all :( Still so sorry guys!!!!Here is the Schuyler family
For my birthday/New Year's Eve we stayed in at my parents house and had Chris' family over. We had a super time playing wii. Seriously I pulled muscles..pathetic as it is. I will have to say that I was the boxing champ. I bet everyone. Then they thought it was because of the controler, so they made me switch. I still won! Then they thought I had a stronger signal, so they made me change places. I still won. Dakota was the only one to beat me. But then we went 2/3 and I beat him :) Very fun.
This huge icicle was hanging right in front my my parents' front door.
I am missing my family already. We get to go again in February though :)
Dakota's Birthday
Catching Up
On Dec 29th we went over to Chris and Dana's house for Dakota's 12th birthday. I can't believe he is that old already. Only one year until he is a teenager!!!! Then it was time for Jake the Snake to eat. My kids thought it was so cool. Poor little Templeton was a feast! Joseph wasn't sure if he wanted to touch Jake.
These two pictures were taken within seconds of each other. It was amazing how fast that snake "pounced" and then squeezed that rat.

Been A While!
Yikes, I have been horrible about keeping up with this blog lately! My main reason for writing is to report my goals for the New Year.
I thought maybe I would try to do goals for mind, body and spirit!
Spirit: I am going to read through the New Testament this year. Then I am going to memorize the verses each week with my SS kids. We are also going to start going to Sunday evening service as a family. We have been avoiding that for years.
Body: I am sunk here! I was working on getting pictures printed from the summer. Yes, I am that far behind. I don't even know what to have as a goal. We have gained back so much of the weight we have lost. I am a bit discourged. Why bother having a year of torture only to gain it back the next year?! I heard Tom Hanks have a goal to work out 300 days in 2008. I wasn't thinking of something THAT obsurd....but I was thinking something along the line of 80 days in 2008. Maybe that will take the focus off the food for a while.
Mind: I am going to work on and finish Joseph's 1st year scrapbook (yes, I am that far behind...it is driving me crazy!!!!!). Then I am going to keep up with all the kids' baby books. This has been a burden on my mind...to the point of giving me anxiety about missing things. So, I think this will be good for my mind to get this all accomplished this year.
What are your goals for this year???
